No hay manera de transmitir completamente el gran impacto de la experiencia con IES Los Pedroches en Pozoblanco. Diría que la experiencia era más que nada definida por la gente.
La gente fue muy amable y abierta y me recibieron con entusiasmo. Recibí mucho apoyo por los profesores aun desde antes de llegar, y en varias formas - profesional, social, personal (gracias a Rosa por la ayuda con el alojamiento!). Como también fue mi primer año viviendo sola (hace 8 años!), en un pueblo, y lejos de familia, y que soy de origen un poco menos representado (Egipcia, musulmana), el apoyo e inclusión fueron especialmente agradecidos! Allí también recuerdo que había un gran sentido de cercanía y comunidad entre todo el mundo (incluso con los alumnos) y eso ayudó mucho a que me adaptara al nuevo entorno.
He aprendido muchísimo de mi tiempo allí y me fui con muchos recuerdos preciosos!
There’s no way to fully convey the large impact the experience with ÍES Los Pedroches in Pozoblanco had on me. I’d say the experience more than anything was defined by the people.
The people there were so kind and open and welcomed me with enthusiasm. I received a lot of support from the teachers even before I arrived, and in many forms - professional, social, personal (huge thanks to Rosa for helping with accommodation!). Since it was also my first year living alone (8 years ago!), in a small town, and far from family, and my background is a little less represented (Egyptian, muslim), the support and inclusion were especially appreciated. I remember too that there was a great sense of closeness and community among everyone (including the students) and it made adjusting to the new environment that much easier.
I learned so much from my time there and left with tons of precious memories!

Me vine a Pozoblanco para mi segundo año dentro del programa de auxiliares de conversación y todo el profesorado del centro resultó ser de lo más acogedor y trabajador. Encontré a los profesores muy dispuestos y con ganas de trabajar conmigo para proporcionarle al alumnado esta experiencia, relativamente nueva en aquel entonces, de conocer a una angloparlante nativa mientras aprendían en el aula. Recuerdo mi estancia en el IES Los Pedroches con cariño y espero que más norteamericanos siguen participando en este programa de intercambio de idiomas y cultura tan maravilloso.
I spent my second year of the language assistant program in Pozoblanco and was pleased to find the whole teaching staff to be extremely welcoming, not to mention hard-working. Teachers were excited to work with me to bring students the relatively new experience of meeting a native English-speaker while learning in the classroom. I remember my time at IES Los Pedroches fondly and hope North Americans continue to participate in this wonderful language and cultural exchange program.
